In Studio Interview: Tech N9Ne X Yaya Martinez

I’ve seen Tech N9ne perform a ton of times, but this time he stopped through AZ he came in for an interview that was hilarious. We chopped it up about All 6’7 & 7’s, his openness to collaborations with ANY genre, Chuck Berry Fetishes, What he would be doing if he wasn’t doing music, and more. Great interview, good times 🙂

New Music:: Casey Veggies–Discreet

Casey Veggies is probably the youngst emcee that’s in my iPod- he’s put in a LOT of work, and in honor of his HIGH SCHOOL graduation, ( yes. I said high school) he released “Discreet” (produced by Chuck Inglish) on Fader’s website.

Just Blaze Intro, posted with vodpod

Post is self explanatory- yesterday the homie Sway caught up with Just Blaze on MTV Rap Fix and chopped it up about Detox, GSNT, his fallout with Cam’ron, how long it took Jay-z to complete the Blueprint, and more-
Just Blaze is definitely one of my favorite producers hands down so it was pretty dope to hear him speak on a lot of different things.

Happy Birthday Dave New York!!!!!!

It was a hot april afternoon and i was running around paid dues festival getting drops from different artists, and I heard a big voice coming from around the area that i KNEW I had heard before. Then it hit me. On J Dilla’s song Baby from The Shining,

“How do I feel about radio hip-hop? I think it’s wack, most of the shit they play is straight GARBAGE!!…” …

So I took all of my 5 foot nothing self up to him ( he’s like 100 ft tall I swear to jesus.) and said ” Yo. you dave new york?” to which he replied ‘Yea who wants to know?”
” I do. I just want to let you know that I’m on the radio every week, and what me and my crew play isnt GAHHbage. ok?”

I don’t know if it was my fucked up NY accent or the fact I had the balls to go up to him the way I did and be all mighty mouse ( which I have NO idea why i did that) but I mean, I had to let him know what was good. I guess it struck a chord with him because he actually laughed it off and we had a great conversation about Dilla right outside the dressing rooms. Ever since then? Fam. Thats the story-and the rest is history.

Just had to show him legitimate love on his birthday, HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAVE!! hope you have a good one, and uh… lay off the youngn’s in hip-hop ok? We’re trying!!! lol…

Asher Roth & Nottz X Yaya Martinez

With a hilarious intro from Slaughterhouse, I caught Asher Roth and Nottz after their performance at Paid Dues this past weekend- talked it up about his “hidden” lyricist ability that took people by surprise, how he feels about midget strippers, the story behind his upcoming album that might or might not be named The Spaghetti Tree with some entertainment by Nottz from time to time. We were a tad delusional with a dash of tired-but this interview was legit. Paid Dues 2011

Yaya Martinez X C-Minus ( @CMinusFan4 ) – The Pulse 2 Year Anniversary Interview

Here goes another interview that I was blessed to do for The Pulse 2 year anniversary show in December, and just now getting to post up. Dj C-Minus of the Fantastik 4our and also a Dj from Friday Night Flavas (California Show) called in to share a couple of stories of the Flavas Days.

I appreciate people like him for being one of the many reasons I am doing what I do with The Pulse-so it was only right and respectful for me to reach out when I can to give back. One of thee coolest people I met last year by far- peep the interview below. 🙂

#4 of the Top 10 Moments of 2010-Yaya Version…

#4- My first ever performance introduction for a fellow dreamer- J. Cole…

Now, let me clear something up from this first sentence. I’m not from Phoenix. I’m from a small town whose population is smaller than a possible concert attendance at rock the bells, and where every car you pass you know the person driving it.
